Please Note… November 3, 2009

Parents/Guardians,

 

In response to a new directive from Public Health, we are required to return the vaccination consent forms to the students. Although it states that the bottom section (Screening by Nurse) is to be completed by the nurse prior to vaccination, we have been instructed to have parents/guardians complete the last three questions. The Public Health nurse is responsible for only the first question: “Are you/your dependent sick or do you have a fever today?” Please complete this and return the consent as soon as possible. Without authorized written consent, the student will not be vaccinated. Please ensure your student’s health card information is completed in the upper right hand corner of the form.

Rehearsal Changes October 26, 2009

Tuesday, October 27th – Senior Flutes, Clarinets and Percussion will rehearse in the morning.  Senior Saxophones and trumpets will rehearsal on the same day after school.

 

Wednesday, October 28th – There will be no After school band for the grade 8/9 bands. 

 

Tuesday, November 3rd - Senior French horn and low brass will rehearse at lunch.

 

Tuesday, November 3rd - Jazz band will rehearse after school until 4:30.

 

Wednesday, November 4th – The grade 8/9 band will rehearse until 4:00.  Grade 9’s, if you are able to make it after the “take your kid to work day”, please do, otherwise, we’ll see you at the concert.

 

Wednesday, November 4th – Fall concert beginning at 7:00pm.  Students to arrive at the school by 6:30pm in uniform.  There will be a short band parents meeting following the concert. 

 

Thursday, November 5th – No jazz band rehearsal

 

Monday, November 9th – everything is back to normal!

Concert Opportunity October 13, 2009

The UPEI Wind Symphony will be putting on a concert at UPEI on Thursday, November 26th.  The UPEI Wind Symphony is a musical group that is made up of UPEI Music students, band teachers and other musicians.  The concert will begin at 7:30pm.  If there is enough interest, a bus will be provided to transport students from Morell High School to UPEI for this event.  The cost is $7 per student.  The bus will depart the school at 6:30pm and return around 9:30pm.

Senior Band Sectional Schedule October 9, 2009

October 13 – Saxophones and trumpets.  After school until 4:30

 

October 20 – French Horn and Low Brass.  After school until 4:30.

 

October 27 – Flutes and Clarinets.  Before school from 7:40 – 8:35.

 

October 27 – Saxophones and Trumpets.  After school until 4:30.

 

November 3 – French Horn and Low Brass.  After school until 4:30

 

November 10 – Flutes and Clarinets.  Before school from 7:40 – 8:35.

 

November 17 – Saxophones and Trumpets.  After school until 4:30.

 

November 24 – French Horn and Low Brass.  After school until 4:30

 

December 1 – Flutes and Clarinets.  Before school from 7:40 – 8:35.

 

December 8 – Full Band rehearsal until 4:30.

First Band Concert October 6, 2009

The first band concert of the year will take place on Wednesday, November 4th.  The concert will begin at 7:00pm.  All band students are expected to be at the school by 6:30pm in uniform.

After School Band September 23, 2009

After School Band will begin on September 28th.

 

Grade 7’s will have band from 3:10 until 4:30 every Monday.

 

Grade 10’s, 11’s and 12’s will have sectional rehearsals every Tuesday.  After school sectionals will run from 3:10 until 4:30.  Early Morning Rehearsals will run from 7:40 until 8:35.  See above post for sectional dates and times.

 

Grade 8’s and 9’s will have band from 3:10 until 4:30 every Wednesday.

 

The Jazz band will rehearse from 3:10 until 4:30 every Thursday.
